THREE men beat and threatened a man who they had imprisoned in his own home, leading to him jumping out of a second-floor window to escape.

Ishaq Yusuf, Abdiqani Noor, and Jayden Ryan were part of a group of four who “took over” the victim's home in Northam Road, Southampton.

Southampton Crown Court heard how they kept him locked up for three and a half days, beating him, threatening him with knives and even flicking cigarette ash in his mouth.

Jailing the trio, judge Christopher Parker KC said the man was “in fear for his life” and that the three had “shown no restraint” and had “plainly appeared to enjoy it”.

The victim had initially allowed one person, who was homeless, to stay in his home in exchange for drugs - but after a short time he left, and Yusuf, Noor, Ryan and one other arrived.

The man was only allowed to go to the toilet once a day and would be accompanied by one of the men.

He was punched, hit with a kettle, had his legs stamped on and made to urinate in a bottle.

The victim was also made to stay in an alcove beneath his desk for hours on end.

But after three days and ten hours, his abusers left, leading to him jumping out of a second-floor window to escape more “torture”.

He broke his ankle from the fall and spent the next two months in hospital, afraid to return to Southampton in case the men found him again.

In a statement read out in court, he said: “What I went through has affected me in a number of ways.

“I did my best to do what the defendants said. I tried to avoid speaking or looking at them.

“I survived on scraps. I begged them to leave. I didn’t know if there was an end in sight.

“I thought shouting or trying to call the police would get me killed.”

The court heard how he was left with bruising and swelling all over and was a “shell of [his] former self”.

His nose was also broken and he is now suffering from PTSD and anxiety even after moving away from the area.

Simon Walters said the men had caused the “torture and humiliation” of their victim, adding that they had been dealing drugs from the home whilst they were there.

Yusuf, 20, of HMP Winchester, was convicted at trial of false imprisonment and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Noor, 18, of Vincent Drive, Birmingham was also found guilty at trial of false imprisonment.

Ryan, 18, of Drylea Grove, Birmingham pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Paul Walker, mitigating for Noor, said the incident wasn’t pre-planned and that his client was 17 at the time.

He added that “just before this offence was committed, Mr Noor was homeless”.

Noor was jailed for six years three months, Yusuf eight years six months and Ryan five years.

Yusuf has five previous convictions for 12 offences, whilst Noor and Ryan were first-time offenders.
