POLICE are reminding visitors to the New Forest that campfires and barbecues in the district are banned.
New Forest Heart Cops took to social media after patrolling part of the district with head ranger Charlotte Belcher from Forestry England.
They said: "It’s been really wet again but there were still plenty of people about, including campers using a gas stove to boil a kettle in Millyford Bridge car park.
"Please remember that there is a Public Protection Order in place across the whole Forest that prohibits placing, throwing or dropping items likely to cause a fire and lighting a fire or a barbeque including disposable barbeque and any outdoor temporary cooking facilities or equipment.
"Please keep the Forest safe - even in weather like this."
