SOUTHAMPTON is one of the UK's hotspots for motorbike theft, figures have revealed.
The city is second only to Cambridge as the worst location for bike theft with 203 motorbikes stolen between June 2022 and May 2023, 82 per 100,000 population.
Using a Freedom of Information request to the DVLA, vehicle finance specialists at Anglo Scottish Finance found which areas are home to the most stolen bikes.
In that year, a total of 18,361 motorcycles were registered as stolen to the DVLA by police.
The entire top 10 list of the most-stolen bike models in the UK come from two manufacturers - Yamaha and Honda.
Dan Reavley, Head of Vehicle Finance at Anglo Scottish Finance, said: "Would-be thieves often see motorcycles as an easier theft than a car, leaving bike owners more susceptible to theft. Wherever you’re based, however, it’s worth investing in a little extra security for your motorbike. Peace of mind for your pride and joy is worth the money you’ll spend on security."
