FROM festival fun to fast cars and fast cricket, there's so much to do in Hampshire this weekend.
Here's our pick of five of the best family fun events.
At Wickham Festival...
THE Proclaimers, Midge Ure and the Saw Doctors will head a star-studded line-up at Wickham Festival this year.
Tickets are selling fast for the event, which continues all weekend.
Topping the bill are the Saturday headliners and old favourites the Proclaimers whose anthem I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) will bring the party.
Live Aid co-founder and Ultravox front man Midge Ure will close the four-day festival.
Last year’s headliners the Saw Doctors proved such a huge hit they have been invited back for top billing on Friday night.
Other top artists include Mary Black and Mary Coughlan on the Friday with Fisherman’s Friends dropping anchor on the Saturday along with Eric Bibb and folk favourite Barbara Dickson.
Sunday sees the return of regulars the South (formerly the Beautiful South) along with The Zombies plus Toyah and Robert Fripp.
At Beaulieu...
A very special guest will be at the Beaulieu Supercar Weekend on Saturday and Sunday as The Stig from BBC’s Top Gear gets behind the wheel to take part in one of the show’s demonstration runs.
The mysterious driver, loved by millions for his motoring antics on the small screen, will be delighting showgoers with his driving skills at the packed two-day show. Taking to Beaulieu’s Chestnut Avenue in a prototype Ford Mustang Dark Horse, The Stig will join the drivers of other impressive machines as they demonstrate their acceleration and braking. The sights and sounds of these amazing machines in action will be an unforgettable experience.
All kinds of amazing supercars will be taking their places in the showground, ranging from Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis and McLarens, to Porsches, TVRs, Lotuses and Aston Martins. Amongst the amazing motors booked to attend are examples of the Honda NSX, Ultima GTR, Noble M12, Lotus Emira, Nissan GT-R, Ford GT, Audi R8, Alfa Romeo 4C and many more.
At the Burley Village Show...
Always held on the first Saturday in August, the Burley Village Show is an annual event dating back to 1908. The showground is set against the backdrop of the Burley Manor and open countryside.
As part of Burley history, the show remains a small traditional country event that celebrates village life and brings together local people of all ages and visitors to enjoy shared activities.
It has retained its original format of a vegetable, flower and produce show with locals engaging in friendly competition by entering classes.
Not just for locals, the Burley Village Show also has loyal support from holiday-makers to the New Forest.
There is lots to see including country crafts and pursuits, children’s attractions, a display of vintage and classic vehicles and a programme of arena events. Ferret racing is always particularly popular.
In Stockbridge...
Trout ‘n About is a thriving local food festival which takes place in the market town of Stockbridge on the first Sunday of August every year. With over 100 stalls showcasing the very best of local food, produce and crafts, it is a family friendly event attracting thousands of visitors from all around.
The beautiful, historic high street of Stockbridge becomes abuzz with activity, with live music filling the air, Juggling Jake entertaining the children with his circus skills and the countryside coming to the high street in the form of farm animals, vintage agricultural equipment, craft demonstrations, face painting and the many stalls promoting and selling local fare.
The festival is named after one of the things the Test Valley is renowned for – Trout!
At the Ageas Bowl...
Hot on the heels of the T20 season, The Hundred comes to the Ageas Bowl.
Southern Brave take on the Northern Superchargers at the home of Hampshire Cricket on Saturday.
Each match day will feature a live performance from a BBC Introducing artist with The Manatees set to feature this weekend.
Hailing from Southampton, The Manatees (Jay, Tyler & Miller) combine hip-hop samples, funk inspired bass lines, thrashing guitars and candid lyrics to carve out their own soundscape within modern rock.
2023 also sees the return of The Hundred’s resident DJs including Char Stape for Southern Brave.
Launched in 2021, The Hundred is cricket’s newest innovation, bringing together high-octane cricket with spectacular entertainment.
For the third year running, The Hundred has curated its music line-up in collaboration with BBC Music Introducing.
