A suspected burglar has been arrested after two building sites in Hedge End were broken into in the early hours.
A member of the public called the police at around 4.30am today (August 8) to report a burglary-in-progress on Kingsman Drive in Botley.
It is alleged that a number of containers were broken into on the site.
Officers were quickly deployed to the scene and saw a group of people fleeing.
Shortly after, they stopped a vehicle at the junction of the B3354 and Chancellors Lane.
A 30-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal, going equipped for burglary, and possession of a Class B drug.
During the investigation, officers located and seized a significant amount of stolen items, including power tools, hand tools, laptops, and other electronics.
These items will be used as evidence in the case.
Police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their local area.
