Tributes are pouring in for a motorcyclist who died after a crash in the early hours of Monday morning.

Officers were called to Portswood Road just before 5am following the crash involving a motorbike and a number of parked vehicles.

The motorcyclist, 19-year-old George Milton from Eastleigh, was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

His family are being supported by specialist officers.

People have spoken of their sadness at the news of the motorcyclist’s passing.

Commenting on the Daily Echo Facebook page, people shared their condolences for the man’s family.

Stella Pring described the news as ‘so sad’.

She said: “[He’s] Too young to pass away.

“My thoughts are with his family.”

Sharon Britt added: “Thoughts with his family. RIP.”

Abigail Shoebridge commented: “Oh no poor young man. Think of his family and friends.”

Sharyn Randall commented: “RIP young man, thoughts with his family.”

The road was closed from Highfield Lane to Kent Road for several hours as police dealt with the incident.

There were long delays on all approaches to Portswood Road. Traffic was particularly affected near the Sainsbury’s store.

Motorists travelling on the open section of the road were stuck in traffic, while delays also hit Cobden Bridge.

Bus travel was also affected.

Bluestar had to pause their B*2 service serving Sainsbury’s in Portswood in both directions.

The Unilink U6C/H was also unable to serve the area as a result of the closure.

A spokesperson said: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Police investigating the tragic incident are now urging anyone with information to come forward.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it.
