Born in Portsmouth, England, James Ward-Prowse began his youth career with Southampton in 2003.

He made his first-team debut for the club in October 2011, and has since gone on to make over 400 appearances for Saints.

He has been a regular in the Southampton team since the 2013-14 season, and was named the club's Player of the Season on three occasions: 2016-17, 2018-19, and 2021-22.

Ward-Prowse, known as a dead ball specialist, is considered to be one of the best free-kick takers in the world, and scored 17 goals from free-kicks in the Premier League for Southampton.

He is also a regular scorer from open play, and has scored almost 50 goals for the club in all competitions.

Ward-Prowse's international career began from an early age. He represented England at under-17, under-19, under-20, and under-21 levels. He made his senior international debut in March 2017, and has since earned more than 10 caps for the national team.

Considered to be one of the club's most important players, the steadfast team captain is a versatile midfielder who has shown an unwavering commitment to the club for more than a decade.
