A SOUTHAMPTON man died of a drugs overdose, an inquest was told today (Thursday, August 17).
Christopher Patrick Gilliam, 62, was found dead by his partner's carers at his home in Sutherland Road, Lords Hill, on March 17.
Senior coroner Christopher Wilkinson said police officers attended the property but decided there were no suspicious circumstances.
At the hearing in Winchester, he said: "Mr Gilliam was a known drug user but there was no evidence of any drugs and no evidence of foul play. The police considered he had suffered a medical episode."
A post mortem was carried out at Southampton General Hospital by consultant pathologist Adrian Bateman and he said the cause of death was a drugs overdose.
Mr Wilkinson adjourned the inquest to July 1 next year.
