Audiences are escaping to a world of pure imagination after scrumdiddlyumptious musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory arrived in Southampton.

Willy Wonka star Gareth Snook is pictured alongside two of the children playing Charlie with a special edition copy of the Daily Echo produced ahead of the show's three week run at Mayflower Theatre.

Based on the iconic story, this spectacular stage show follows the hit West End and Broadway productions to combine the memorable songs from the original 1970s motion picture like The Candy Man and Pure Imagination with all new numbers from the multi award-winning songwriters of Hairspray.
