A nursery in Eastleigh is delighted have been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted following its first inspection since the Covid pandemic.
YMCA Eastleigh was handed the impressive rating after welcoming inspectors on July 4.
The nursery on Whieldon Way was rated 'Outstanding' in all four categories according to the report.
Inspectors found that children are ‘extremely happy, active learners’, and staff use their ‘exceptional’ knowledge and understanding of children's individual needs.
This helps them to make outstanding progress, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those who are learning English as an additional language.
A highly varied and exciting curriculum is offered to children, and their learning is enhanced through the ‘skilful interaction of staff’.
Staff support all children's learning exceptionally well, inspectors noted.
It was also found that staff carefully consider children's interests, choices and development during all activities, which they use to extend and challenge their learning.

The report states: “Staff provide children with a wealth of interesting resources and activities that inspire and motivate them to learn and give them the skills they need for the future.
“Staff are exceptionally positive role models for children. They communicate with children and members of their team in a positive and respectful way.”
Inspectors said all children receive the support they need to access the same curriculum as their peers.
In turn, children who are behind in their development when they start at the nursery quickly catch up, particularly in their speech and language and emotional development.
Staff also join in children's play and skilfully extend their learning, and ‘eagerly respond’ to children's curiosity.
Inspectors added: “Staff support children to develop excellent independence.
“They give children clear guidance and support when needed, as well as giving them time to do things for themselves.”
Vikki Kennesion, early years director, expressed her gratitude and pride in the team's achievement.
She said: "We are thrilled to have received an Outstanding Ofsted inspection rating.
“This achievement truly reflects the dedication, passion, and hard work of our team.
“We are committed to continuing our mission of supporting and empowering young people to flourish and achieve their potential."
