A vegan and vegetarian Indian restaurant has opened in Southampton.
Padharo in East Street caters specifically for non-meat-eaters, using plant-based alternatives for authentic Indian recipes.
Co-owner Ankit Vaghela, 33, said it had always been his dream to open an Indian restaurant that caters specifically for vegans and vegetarians.
He said: "At Padharo, we replicate the flavour and texture of traditional Indian dishes with vegan alternative foods.
"After speaking with many of the vegan residents here and also speaking to the Asian community in Southampton, we found out the city was crying out for vegan and vegetarian Indian alternatives - that is why we are here."
Over 80 per cent of Padharo's menu is available in a vegan option.
Chefs use vegan prawns and plant-based chicken in their dishes that are made using soya and other plant-based foods.
Ankit said he would encourage everyone to try the chef's special, Kaju Paneer.
He said: "It is so delicious, it was the first dish we knew we were going to put on our menu - everyone need to try it."

Head chef and Ankit's sister, Neha Jadav, 35, uses family recipes and culinary traditions to make her authentic dishes.
Ankit added: "My sister Neha has lived in Southampton for five years and she would always tell me that Southampton does not have enough traditional Indian restaurants for vegetarians and vegans.
"I love Southampton, it is a vibrant city and I cannot wait for many of the people here to come and try our signature dishes."
Ankit worked as a restaurant manager in London before pursuing his life-long ambition of owning his own restaurant.
Padharo's launch event on Friday, August 18 exceeded expectations, Ankit said, with more than 200 people served.
"We were so pleasantly surprised so many people came to try our food. The event was amazing and we are very grateful for all those who came."
Padharo is open from 5pm to 10.30pm.
