A NURSE at a New Forest care home rated "Good" by inspectors from the Care Quality Commission has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Esievo Atete, who helps look after residents at Carpathia Grange in Southampton Road, Hythe, has been nominated in the Rising Star category at this year’s Nursing Times Awards.
The awards shine a light on the brightest talent in the profession and recognise those who are making nursing innovative, patient-focused and inclusive.
Esievo has been praised for providing strong clinical leadership at Carpathia Grange, often coaching and mentoring team members to ensure it offers the best possible service for residents.
Judges noted the way he shares his expertise with the management team, other nurses, and care teams in the home’s residential care suite.

The manager, Pooja Dhoot, said: "I have witnessed pre-reg nurses who perhaps wanted to leave the profession become completely transformed after spending time under Esievo’s wing.
"We are thrilled to see Esievo shortlisted for this prestigious award.
"He is extremely passionate about residents and ensuring that those with additional needs are cared for in the best way possible.
"He is a force to be reckoned with, bringing a unique blend of expertise and skills in the care sector, inspiring others to raise the bar too. We are so lucky to have him."
A spokesperson for Care UK, which runs the home, said Esievo was regarded as a role model.
They added: "Judges saw that Esievo has a particular soft spot for pre-reg nurses who are new to the UK. He was in the same scenario just a few years ago and understands the unique challenges this brings.
"The coaching and support Esievo provides undoubtedly brings out the best in his colleagues.
"The judges also commented on Esievo’s focus. They noted that his naturally calm and caring attitude lends itself well to building strong relationships with residents and their relatives.
"Working in partnership with the rest of the care home team, Esievo ensures that residents receive the best possible care by sharing his knowledge."

Carpathia Grange is a three-storey care home with more than 60 en-suite bedrooms, plus its own cafe, cinema, and hair salon.
The facility is named after the Cunard steamship that rescued more than 700 survivors after Titanic sank during her maiden voyage in April 1912.
Carpathia's captain, Arthur Rostron, is buried at St James's Church in West End.
