TWO brothers are set to take over one of Southampton's most historic pubs.
Sam and James Egan will be reopening the doors of The Titanic pub and kitchen before large-scale refurbishments take place in 2024.
The watering hole on Simnel Street is the only pub in the country to carry the name of the White Star liner.
It was renamed in 2012 to mark the centenary of the ship's sinking.
While the pub still caters to a small but loyal group of locals, the brothers hope to capitalise on the passing tourist trade and grow the city's live music scene.
As Southampton natives, Sam and James hope to do The Titanic justice.
James said: “We want to preserve the historic lineage of the pub, maintaining a commitment to tradition and quality above all else.
“A regular spot for locals and tourists to meet, drink and eat - The Titanic can become an establishment Southampton can be proud of.”
James has been owning and operating his own businesses since 2017, having opened Edison’s Coffee Shop & Wine Bar less than a year ago.

Aside from being brothers, Sam and James share a passion for all things music.
Playing in bands together throughout their childhood and into adulthood, they want to showcase as much live music in Southampton as possible.
They have already secured The Titanic as a venue for Music in The City on Saturday, September 23.
Sam added: “We can’t wait to celebrate with the city over a few beers and some karaoke.
“With enough support, The Titanic will become a spot for locals and tourists to come in and feel at home.”
The Titanic will be going through a major refurbishment at the beginning of 2024.
While the Egans will be doing a lot to revamp the space this year, they need to take time to ensure the pub is fully operational and respectful of its heritage.
Once refurbishments have been completed, they plan to serve food.
The Titanic will be opening its doors on Friday, September 15.
