A DRIVER who was caught at 72mph on the M27 has been fined and given penalty points. 

Hayley Mitchell, 33, was caught speeding between junctions eight and seven for Hedge End.

She was travelling westbound when she was flashed by an automatic camera device. 

A variable speed limit of 60mph was in place at the time.

Mitchell, who was driving a Vauxhall, appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court. 

The resident of Sycamore Close, Gosport admitted a single count of exceeding a variable speed limit. 

She was fined £70 and given three penalty points. 

Mitchell must also pay £110 towards court costs and a £28 surcharge by September 28.
