WITH the sixth Eastleigh Pride taking place today, the Daily Echo looks at 15 pictures of the journey so far.
The first Eastleigh Pride was held in September 2018 and featured a wide range of entertainment. The event, held on Leigh Road Recreation Ground, was attended by thousands of people.
Several artists including Henry Newbury, the Solent Gay Men’s Chorus, the Oxfordshire Drag Collective and drag Queen Misty Lee entertained the crowds throughout the day.
The event went on to attract thousands again to Leigh Road Rec the following year, and the venue was quickly becoming the home of Eastleigh Pride.
The third Pride was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic but returned to Leigh Road in September 2022 when around 3,000 revellers enjoyed the performers, stalls, sunshine and party atmosphere.
Colour, glitter and cheer filled the recreation ground once again on October 1, 2022, when the fifth Eastleigh Pride provided all-day entertainment from several artists including Steindotters, Diana D, Jack of Hearts, Solent Gay Mens Choir, Maddox Jones, Ashley Paul and Miss Lucy Luscious Lips.
And today equality and diversity will be celebrated once again in the town as people come together to champion the rights of the LGBTQ+ community while having lots of colourful fun.
