Bank cards stolen from a leisure centre has prompted a police investigation.

Between 12.15pm and 1.45pm on August 28, a locker was broken into and bank cards were stolen.

The cards were used in several stores to purchase items worth more than £7,000 in total, police said.

Officers are now hoping to speak with a woman, pictured, in connection with the theft.

She is described as aged between 25 and 35-years-old, Black, with dark hair, and wearing all black clothing and sliders.

A spokesperson from the force said: “Do you recognise this woman or know who she is? Do you have any information regarding this incident that may assist our investigation?

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting reference 44230348386.”

The investigation comes after the Echo reported on a spate of thefts from lockers at the leisure centre, run by Active Nation.

One swimmer told of their horror after a thief ‘took everything’ from them.

The swimmer said: "My clothes, keys, phone, medication and bank cards - which had my address, were all taken. They even stole the padlock.

“I was stranded in the city centre without a phone or any help.”
