The man's body was pulled from the water within a couple of hours.
On Sunday night, a spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary issued a new statement regarding the incident.
They confirmed that their enquiries were still ongoing - particularly that work was 'still being carried out to contact next of kin'.
The body is yet to be formally identified.
As well as police, coastguard rescue teams from Hillhead, Lymington and Portsmouth and a coastguard helicopter were all part of the rescue efforts to recover the body.
Fire crews from St Mary's and Redbridge fire stations and paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service were also at the scene.
