AN OFFICE building in an industrial estate is set to be demolished.
The three-storey building at 16 Millbank Street, Southampton, is in 'disrepair'.
Silmir Investments Ltd has recently bought the site and wants to knock down the building.
A statement submitted with its planning permission bid said: "Silmir Investments Ltd have been successful in the acquisition of the application site.
"The building on site however is unsafe and in a current state of disrepair to a degree where it would be unviable to refurbish the existing building.
"Demolition of the existing building is therefore required to make the building and the site, safe, secure and in order to facilitate the safe and viable future use of the site."
A two-storey flat-roof commercial building adjoining the building will be retained.
The statement added: "The area is predominantly characterised by various other commercial industrial buildings/uses and these surround the site.
"On the opposite side of Millbank Street however is an area of residential development comprising largely of social housing."
A decision by Southampton City Council is due to be made by October 24.
