A man has appeared in court just months after he was spared jail for punching a McDonald’s manager.

Wiktor Galewski, 19, was given a sentence of 12 months suspended for two years in June.

But on Tuesday, he appeared in court again for breaching his sentence by failing to complete an unpaid work requirement.

The attack at Shirley McDonald's in October last year saw him punch a manager and try to steal her phone.

His uncle, who was with him at the time, broke another manager's jaw after being refused service at the drive-thru and was jailed for 21 months.

Prosecuting, Laura Duff said Galewski, of Cracknore Road, Southampton had failed to attend unpaid work on two occasions despite a warning letter being sent out.

He later attended a session but was suspended from unpaid work due to the breach.

Mitigating, Stephen Tricker said his client had suffered a fractured rib whilst working in construction with his father.

He said a doctor signed him off from work for a month but that expired on September 9.

“He does want to get his head down and finish the unpaid work,” he said.

On the day of the attack, Gelewski’s uncle, Adam Bobrowski, got out of the car and verbally abused a McDonald's manager after staff at the drive-thru refused to serve him.

He then became violent and broke the man's jaw.

Galewski approached another manager outside, grabbed her from behind and punched her to the left of her face.

As he left, he noticed the woman had her phone out.

He placed an arm around her neck to “stop her getting away” and attempted to wrestle the phone out of her hand before leaving in a vehicle.

Judge Nicholas Rowland said on Tuesday it was a "nasty incident".

He adjourned Galewski's sentencing until December 8 to give him a chance to complete some of the unpaid work.

Addressing the defendant, he said: “If you don’t take this seriously there will be no further opportunities.”
