A Southampton man has been charged with shoplifting offences.
On Friday at 3.50pm, two police officers from the Redbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) - which forms part of the Southampton West team - posted on Facebook about their day.
They said: "Redbridge NPT have been relentlessly pursuing criminals in the Shirley area.
"We successfully arrested a male linked to assault and multiple shopliftings in Shirley.
"Southampton West NPT will continue to work hard and make our community safer."
Since then, a force spokesperson confirmed that a man has been charged.
Jack Henry Thomas Cole, 29, of Millbrook Road West, Southampton, has been charged with six counts of theft from a shop, one of attempted theft from a shop, assault by beating and possessing a controlled drug of class B.
The charges relate to incidents of theft at the Co-op on Millbrook Road West, between 10 September and 2 October.
The assault relates to an incident at the Co-op on Millbrook Road West on the evening of 1 October when a staff member was assaulted by a man attempting to steal items.
Cole was remanded in custody and appeared before Southampton Magistrates' Court yesterday morning.
