Hampshire's police boss has met with the Prime Minister and other leaders to discuss the impact of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Donna Jones, attended a roundtable at 10 Downing Street on Thursday centred around the war in Israel and Palestine.

The PCC joined the Prime Minister and national police leaders to discuss the conflict's impact on Jewish and Muslim communities in Britain.

She has since written to faith leaders, local authorities, and MPs "to ensure communities, constituents and congregations have access to the Victim Care Service".

Ms Jones said: “On Thursday, I attended a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, Home Secretary, Suella Braverman MP, the Communities Secretary Michael Gove and national police leaders to discuss the ongoing conflict in Israel and the Palestine region.

“Ensuring that all protests taking place, including those planned for Saturday in central London and across the country are policed correctly, is essential.

“Hate crimes won't be tolerated and those supporting terrorist organisations should expect to be arrested.

“As Commissioner here in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, it is my responsibility to make sure those in fear of crime have access to support.

“It is important at this time for Police and Crime Commissioners to collectively extend a helping hand and provide the necessary support to those in need.”
