Queen Anne's captain says new cruise ship 'coming to life'

The Queen Anne will have the capacity to hold 3,000 guests and 1,200 staff as it joins the other ships in the Cunard fleet to sail around the globe.

The Queen Anne will become the 249th ship to sail under the Cunard flag and will make up a quartet of the current Cunard fleet at sea alongside Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth.

The ship was commissioned in 2017 and is set to welcome its first round of guests next year.

In the latest instalment of her Captain’s Log series, Captain Inger Thorhauge revealed that the ship is only six months away from arriving into the port of Southampton.

Captain Thorhauge has already made history by becoming Cunard's first female captain. 

She said: “From the outset of the Queen Anne project, the brief to our design teams has been to create an environment and on-board experience inspired by our past and designed for our future.

“Now, week by week, as the fit-out gathers pace, we are starting to see these designs take their place on board. Designs which will be a hallmark of Queen Anne’s elegant and contemporary style.

“This is a fascinating stage we are at – where computer graphics and design renders come to life.

“Right now, there’s a way to go before my new crew assembles and prepares to bring our renowned White Star Service to Queen Anne.

“It’s going to be a very hectic six months, we are counting down the days until we arrive in Southampton for the first time – and we can proudly show ourselves off to the whole world.”

The Queen Anne is set to comprise 14 decks and a total of six standards of accommodation will be available to guests.
