Approval has been given for a new 38-home development in Burridge.

Cala Homes has secured planning approval for 38 new homes on land at Eyersdown Farm, Burridge.

Planning permission was granted by Fareham Borough Council at a planning committee meeting.

Construction on the site will start in January and will see a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes available for private sale.

The development will also have 15 affordable homes, available through shared ownership or social rent.

Land and planning director at Cala Homes, John Richards, said: “It’s fantastic news that Fareham Borough Council has approved our reserved matters application at Burridge.

“The approval represents significant positive engagement with local people and we were humbled by the praise for the scheme from committee members.

“We cannot wait to get on site and deliver what will be our first all-electric development in the region.

“As part of our commitment to supporting the local areas we develop, we will also be creating a community pledge.

“This will include a range of community engagement and outreach initiatives to deliver social value across Burridge and the surrounding areas.”

All homes will include electric vehicle charging and air source heat pumps - a gas-free heating solution which will enable homeowners to reduce their carbon emissions and reduce their energy use.

This is the homebuilder’s first all-electric development in the region and marks a milestone in its journey to building homes that are operationally net zero carbon from 2030.

The developer also intended to build two new public open spaces, named The Meadow and The Green, as part of the development.

Cala has also stated it is dedicated to protecting wildlife that could be affected by the construction of the development.

The company’s Urban Wildlife Strategy will introduce 190 measures to support and protect wildlife on the site, helping species such as birds, bats, bees and hedgehogs to thrive within the development.

The strategy includes bird nesting features, specialist hedgehog fencing, invertebrate bricks, bat roosting features and native tree planting.

The developer has stated this will be delivered on every Cala project as a standard, regardless of planning requirements.
