New data from a taxi company has revealed what Southampton nightclubs are the most popular based on how many trips are taken to them.
The ride-hailing platform Bolt collected data during the recent Freshers Week for the University of Southampton to judge this.
The nightclub ranking was derived from the total number of rides to and from specific venues from Saturday, September 23 to Friday, October 6.
Markian Iwaniw, Senior Operations Manager at Bolt, said: “What a busy Freshers Week it was! It’s a privilege to help partygoers get to and from their destination conveniently and safely and, judging by the variety of venues that make up our ranking, it’s clear that Southampton can cater to whatever kind of party you’re after.”
Top 5 most popular Southampton nightclubs according to taxi data
The most popular Southampton nightclubs were ranked based on the proportion of rides to the top 10 venues.
1. Sobar Southampton - 20% of rides in the period of time
2. Clowns Wine Bar and Jesters Nightclub - 15%
3. The Edge & The Box Bar - 14%
4. Café Parfait - 12%
5. Revolution Southampton - 11%
Discussing the number one slot in Sobar Southampton, Bolt said: "Sobar Southampton had an absolute blinder, storming ahead of the pack by taking a massive 20% of all the rides to and from the ten venues that make up this ranking.
"Perhaps this is because of the allure of the garden parties in ‘the best garden in Southampton’? Perhaps it’s because it’s self-proclaimed as ‘Home of the £1 Double’? Let’s be honest, it was probably a bit of both."
The remaining clubs that made up the top 10 list were as follows:
6. Switch Southampton - 9%
7. The Stag's - 8%
8. Orange Rooms Southampton - 4%
9. The Stage Door - 4%
10. Popworld Southampton - 3%
Speaking about the tenth place spot, Bolt said: "Finishing up the ranking, our data suggests there were quite a few pop fanatics taking after the Spice Girls and asking their driver to “stop right now, thank you very much” as they arrive at the ‘poptastic’ Popworld."
