A Southampton man has been fined for ignoring a lane closure on the M3. 

Aaron Albert Nelson was driving between junctions two and three of the M3 near Chobham in Surrey when he was caught by automatic equipment. 

He had been driving a Volkswagen at the time when he was seen ignoring a lane closure traffic light signal. 

The offence was committed on June 12, last year.

Appearing at Staines Magistrates' Court, the 45-year-old of Bassett Green Close, Southampton, admitted failing to comply with lane closure signals.

He was fined £160 and must pay a £34 surcharge by November 2.

Nelson also received three points on his licence.
