A cruise ship will leave Southampton’s port for the final time this weekend, so we have compiled a list of the best places to watch her departure.

Celebrity Silhouette will sail from the city on Monday as she makes her way to Ponta Delgada in Portugal.

The impressive vessel has carried 199,164 guests from Southampton and charted 230,000 nautical miles.

People can bid farewell to the ship at 12.15pm on Monday.

Here are five places you can watch the ship set sail from

Daily Echo:

IKEA car park

Perhaps an unconventional one to start with, but if you happen to be stocking up on flatpack furniture it might be worth utilising your location.

Level Four of the multi-storey car park provides a perfect opportunity to look out across the Solent.

Departing from Berth 101, the City Cruise Terminal, spectators will have a great view of the ship from the car park.

Weston Shore

A clear view of Celebrity Silhouette sailing from Southampton can be seen from this point.

Watch from the shoreline as it departs, and you will likely see many other vessels too.

Royal Victoria Country Park

Daily Echo:

Just down the road from Weston Shore is this popular country park.

Celebrity Silhouette can be seen from the shore and the grass at Royal Victoria Country Park.

And if you’re visiting with your pooch, they can enjoy the sailing too.

Hythe

Across the other side of the water, spectators can watch the final sailing from Hythe.

Catch the Hythe Ferry across the Solent and either watch the departure onboard, or on dry land at Hythe.

Depending on timings, you may be able to watch it from the Hythe Pier Train.

Mayflower Park

If you’re in the city centre, Mayflower Park is the perfect place to watch the ship sail past.

Only down the road from the berth, you will have a prime viewing spot of the cruise ship.
