Two people have been arrested after Class A drugs and £15,000 in cash were seized in Southampton.

Officers on patrol in St James Road after 2pm on Tuesday noticed suspected drug related activity.

A 37-year-old man from Southampton was then detained and searched.

Suspected Class A drugs and cash were found by officers, who also searched an address connected to the man.

More than £15,000 in cash was seized, as well as a large quantity of suspected Class A drugs. A significant quantity of products suspected to have been stolen were also discovered.

The man and a 33-year-old woman present at the address, also from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and handling stolen goods.

They remain in police custody at the current time and enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesperson from the force said: “Drug-related activity will not be tolerated in our communities.

“We will continue to relentlessly pursue and deal with those who are causing harm in our city.

“The information we receive from the public is vital to us being able to tackle illegal drug activity across Southampton.
