The Itchen Bridge will be closed as Storm Ciarán sweeps into Southampton.
The bridge will be closed from 7pm on Wednesday, November 1 and will remain shut until the storm has passed or when the weather subsides.
The storm is expected to bring very strong winds along the southern coast from tomorrow.
This is set to last until Friday, November 3, and be followed by heavy rain.

During the closure of the Itchen Bridge, buses will be redirected and people are urged to check bus operators’ websites before travelling.
It is likely that other roads may also be closed in the coming days.

A spokesperson from Southampton City Council said: “We are taking precautionary measures across the area, to prevent accidents and injury to the public and our workforce.
“We ask that if need to travel, check your route, and please travel with care.
“Guidance and updates on further impacts of the storm will be provided tomorrow morning, Wednesday, November 1.”
