The Met Office has downgraded the amber weather warning for Southampton to a yellow weather warning as Storm Ciaran sweeps through the region.
A yellow weather warning for both wind and rain is still in place and several areas in Southampton and the New Forest have experienced flooding and fallen down trees.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Very unsettled Thursday with outbreaks of heavy rain and strong winds throughout.
“Severe gales possible along exposed coastal regions, with a risk of storm force winds for a time. Maximum temperature 12 °C.”

The Met office issues an amber warning if there is a possibility of travel delays, road and rail closures, power cuts and the potential risk to life and property.
Despite the Met Office lowering the warning, many residents are facing heavy floods including Stanley Road in Totton, where residents had to use sandbags to stop water getting in their homes.
The New Forest District Council has warned residents to stay away from the New Forest as fallen trees have caused dangerous conditions and blocked roads.
Southampton City Council has also advised residents to be aware of many precautionary road closures.
Many of the roads have now been reopened including Thomas Lewis Way and the Itchen Bridge.
