The Mayor of Southampton donned a hard hat last week to visit a new retirement block being built.
Councillor Valerie Laurent, joined the McCarthy Stone team, including Site Manager, Adrian Danks, at The Hawthorns in Banister Road to take a closer look at the plans.
Exclusively for those aged 70 and over, The Hawthorns will consist of 66 one and two-bedroom low-maintenance apartments along with an on-site Bistro restaurant, communal spaces, landscaped gardens and a lounge to host social events and activities.
An estate management team will be on site around the clock to support residents and deliver personal care packages to suit individual needs.
There will also be a 24-hour emergency call system and security features including video door entry.
Councillor Valerie Laurent, commented: “It was a pleasure to be invited to The Hawthorns and meet the McCarthy Stone team.
“It was a great opportunity to hear first-hand how the development will offer high-quality retirement properties with flexible care support and situated in beautiful surroundings and close by to exciting amenities.”
