Plans have been submitted to welcome McDonald’s to the heart of a shopping centre.
The global fast food chain has applied for planning permission to open a new restaurant and takeaway at Whiteley Shopping Centre.
The proposed outlet will occupy the old Chimichanga unit, if approved.
The former restaurant closed its doors in Whiteley in 2018 after parent company Prezzo shut the doors of all 33 of its Tex-Mex restaurants.
Earlier this year, Winchester City Council approved plans to transform the site from a restaurant to a restaurant and takeaway.

The council said the proposals were ‘in line with the intended use of the site’.
A separate application has been submitted by McDonald’s to install the company’s signage at the premises, along with a new ‘golden arch’ graphic.
Plans to build a new entrance at the site have also been submitted for approval.
The drawings of the proposals show the McDonald’s sign above the main entrance of the restaurant.
A decision is yet to be made on the two applications by the council.
