Five motorists have appeared in court for speeding around Southampton.
ADRIAN PALMER, 41, of Durham Street, Gosport admitted to exceeding a variable speed limit on the M27 between junctions five and four near Eastleigh. He was caught at 37mph by an automatic speed camera whilst driving a Ford. A variable speed limit of 30mph was in place at the time. Palmer was fined £66 and received three points on his licence. He must also pay a £34 surcharge.
CHRISTOPHER JELF, 48, of High Street, Seaview, Isle of Wight pleaded guilty to exceeding a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the M27 between junctions ten and nine near Fareham. He was clocked at 60mph by an automatic camera whilst driving a Volkswagen. Jelf also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance. The case was adjourned to February 8, 2024.
PAUL HAVILL, 53, of Merry Gardens, North Baddesley admitted speeding on the A35 Southampton Road in Lyndhurst. He was caught by manned equipment driving at 37mph in a Mercedes Sprinter. The speed limit on that road is 30mph. He was fined £32 and received three points on his licence. Havill must pay court costs of £55 and a £13 surcharge.
SIMON HANSLIP, 39, of Pointout Road, Southampton pleaded guilty to speeding on Bassett Green Road, Southampton. He was driving an Audi A3 when he was clocked at 38mph on the 30mph road. He was caught by manned speeding equipment. Hanslip was banned from driving for six months and received three points. He must pay a £102 fine, £110 court costs and a £40 surcharge.
SHANE ARNOLD, 57, of Cerne Close, West End pleaded guilty to speeding on Bitterne Road West in Southampton. He was clocked at 51mph on the 30mph road by manned speeding equipment. Arnold was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle. He was fined £80 and received five points on his licence. Arnold must pay £110 court costs and a £32 surcharge.
