A teenage boy was attacked on a bus in Bitterne by a knife-wielding youth, police have said.
According to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, a 17-year-old boy was on the number 16 Bluestar bus, when it stopped at the West End Road carpark.
Another teenager got onto the bus. He was carrying a knife, police said, and approached the victim.
The 17-year-old was punched in the face and a scuffle ensued.

The other teen then got off, fleeing along Bitterne Road towards Bitterne Road West.
The victim suffered swelling to his face and was not injured by the knife, police said.
The incident took place at around 12.15pm on Friday, November 10th.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or anyone who has any information to assist, to make contact as soon as possible.
A 16-year-old boy from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a controlled drug of class B.
He is currently in police custody.
