A Saints fan has died more than a month after falling at St Mary's Stadium half way through a match, a coroner has confirmed.
Southampton FC fan Simon Oakley, from International Way in Weston, suffered a spinal injury when he collapsed and fell on October 7 about ten minutes before half time at the Rotherham game.
Mr Oakley, 59, of Oslo Towers, died on November 13 at Southampton General Hospital, the opening of an inquest into his death was told.
Supporters, players and coaches alerted the referee who paused play for ten minutes as CPR was administered to Mr Oakley in the Itchen Stand.
The inquest opening was told Mr Oakley remained in hospital after being admitted with a spinal cord injury on October 7.
At the time, a Saints spokesperson said: "Our thoughts and well-wishes are with the fan and their family during this challenging time.
"We extend our gratitude to the stewards, paramedics, and medical professionals for their response and care.
"We would also like to thank the other supporters in the area who reacted quickly and helped to allow an effective medical response through their helpful behaviour."
Coroner Sarah Whitby said that GP, ambulance and hospital reports - as well as a family statement - should be provided to her office within six weeks of the opening.
The full inquest has been adjourned to October 15 next year.
