Emergency services responded to concerns for welfare of a woman on the Itchen Bridge.
Police were called to the Southampton bridge at 1.53pm today.
A police van and an ambulance were seen parked on the eastbound side of the bridge.
Traffic was able to pass the scene whilst the incident was dealt with.
A spokesperson from the police said: "We were called at 1.53pm today to a report of the concern for the welfare of a woman on Itchen Bridge.
"We have attended and remain at the scene."
Emergency services left the bridge at 2.30pm.
Officers confirmed the woman is now safe with officers.
