I've just returned from Southampton High Street, and I feel they have missed an opportunity to get customers spending money.
Black Friday should be a one day event when shoppers feel that taking a sickie from work is justified by getting a bargain.
Twenty per cent off is not worth getting excited about. Westquay was bustling with people and car parks were full, but not many shopping bags were seen.
These are the times when you need shoppers going to the High Street.
Black Friday week and Black Friday month has just watered down what should be a hectic spending spree for Xmas presents, gifts and some self indulgence.
Come on High Streets - rethink what Black Friday was all about.
