From local legend Matthew Le Tissier to national sporting hero Frank Bruno - these shining stars were not the only things to be twinkling in Southampton over festive periods past.
Every year we brave the chill and gather in Southampton to witness the switch being thrown on the Christmas lights, illuminating the skies with Yuletide splendour once more.
People don their padded coats, squeeze into thick gloves and pull on their woollen hats as they prepare to see the city burst into colour.
They meet up with friends and family to mark the annual occasion, where they take in the entertainment provided.
Beginning with just a simple Christmas tree, the annual event has transformed over the years to include a light switch on with famous faces and musical delights.
Some of the familiar faces include actor John Challis who was famous for his portrayal of car dealer Boycie in Only Fools and Horses, and Gladiator Scorpio who took time out of her busy training schedule in order to flip the switch.
As well as big stars, many local choirs, dance acts and bands have been a part of the celebrations, helping to bring a winter wonderland to all those watching.
