A man has been told to pay more than £400 in fines and costs after dumping rubbish beside bins at a recycling centre.
The culprit was caught on camera as he heaved what appears to be a mattress out of a car.
Posting online Southampton City Council said: "The judge in this case ordered a fine of £200, a victim surcharge of £80 and a contribution to costs to the court of £175, making a total payable of £455.
"The fine in this case was lower than usual, as the perpetrator had spent time in custody after a warrant for his arrest was issued when he failed to attend court.
"Remember, that placing rubbish near a bottle bank /clothing recycling bank is still illegal dumping of waste/fly-tipping."
The city council has been contacted for more information.
