A drug dealer was found with cannabis and £4,000 in cash at a ferry terminal after turning away from police.

Antonio Panayi, 31, was arrested at Gosport ferry terminal on the evening of Wednesday, October 25.

Officers were carrying out a knife arch operation when at around 8.30pm, Panayi left the ferry and began walking up the pontoon.

After spotting police, he turned around and walked back towards the ferry.

He was then stopped by officers and resisted them before trying to run off and discarding a bum bag.

Officers searched the bag and grip seal bags containing powder and cannabis were found within along with £4,000 in cash. Two phones were also seized by police.

Panayi, of Eddington Road in St Helens, Isle of Wight was arrested at the scene, and was later charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply, possession of amphetamine with intent to supply, and possession of criminal property.

He admitted to all of the offences while appearing at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court for sentencing on January 12.
