Saints emerged victorious from their last clash 10 years ago and will be hoping to do the same this evening at St Mary’s Stadium.
The date was September 24, 2013, and thoughts of an easy night were on the cards when Ramirez volleyed Saints into the lead on 15 minutes.
Maya Yoshida’s long ball searched out Tadanari Lee spinning into space.
He squared to James Ward-Prowse, whose shot from the edge of the area looped up after being blocked.
Quick-thinking Ward-Prowse squared a header in the direction of Ramirez, who showed great technique to hit a volley first time as the ball dropped just inside the area.
The second goal came for Saints with seven minutes remaining.
James Ward-Prowse whipped in an inswinging right footed corner for Hooiveld to calmly head downwards into the corner from six yards out.
The match finished 2-0.
