A busy junction will close for a week from today as works get underway.
The installation of a new pedestrian crossing on Bridge Road in Woolston starts today.
The junction of Peartree Road (west) will be closed for seven days as a result.
Clearly marked diversion signs will be in place, and these will be accompanied by three-way temporary traffic lights on Bridge Road and Tranby Road.
People are urged to plan their journeys in advance.

A spokesperson from Southampton City Council said: “Following the completion of works on Sea Road, work will commence on Bridge Road from approximately Thursday, November 30.
“We will be installing a new and safer pedestrian tactile crossing on Bridge Road at the junction with Tranby Road.
“Once complete, the area will benefit from new road markings, tactile paving and dropped footways for easier accessibility.”
This comes after improvements were made to Sea Road earlier this month.
Footway improvements and a traffic filter were installed.
It forms part of the council’s Active Travel Zone in the Woolston and Itchen area, which aims to create a ‘better environment for everyone’ and making changes to improve walking and cycling.
