A New Forest resident plagued by noisy Southern Water lorries has slammed the company for telling them to listen to white noise to block it out.
Last week, on Monday November 27, Southern Water road works appeared on Ashurst Bridge Road.
George Long, 45, an estate agent director has lived on the road in Ashurst with his wife and two children since 2007.

He claimed that since the road works began, a noisy lorry comes tearing past his home every ten minutes.
So he filed a complaint and was offered 'white noise devices' by the company to cancel out the noise pollution.
George said: “I’m not sure I could quite put in to words my disbelief and shock. The company should be issuing an apology rather than a very bizarre suggestion like this.
“The customer should always come first and as it stands; we feel like an afterthought. I certainly don’t think it would help me sleep.”
He says that the lorry drivers have been seen traveling at speeds much higher than the speed limit permits and have also blocked the road on many occasions.
The father of two added: “When the tankers come past – they are so heavy - the entire house shakes. The disruption has woken us up on many occasions.
“The tankers have really disturbed the peace, causing queues up the entire road.
"What is worse is that when there is minimal traffic, the tankers are whizzing up the road at extremely high speeds.
“Foxhills Junior School is very close by and I worry for the safety of many of these children.
“The tankers have also damaged the green verges on many of the local roads.”
The issues raised by George formed the basis of his complaint to the utility company.
In response to George’s issues, a spokesperson from Southern Water said: “We’re very sorry for the disruption and noise caused by our repairs to a burst sewer near Ashurst Bridge Road in Totton.
“We had a customer team in the area that were on hand to help residents and listen to concerns, and as part of that they looked at ways they can help people including offering one family white noise devices.
“The use of tankers was necessary for the repairs and to prevent flooding of homes and businesses. We do understand that work of this nature and tankering is disruptive and has an impact on local residents and we’re sorry for any distress this has caused.”
