Firefighters from three stations rushed to a flat blaze in the early hours of Monday in the New Forest.
Crews from Lymington, Brockenhurst and New Milton were alerted to the fire at the first-floor flat on St Thomas Street in Lymington at 4am.
By the time the firefighters arrived at the scene to tackle the blaze, all occupants had evacuated the building.
Crews worked to silence the alarm as well as to isolate the gas and electric supply before firefighters in breathing apparatus used hose reels and jets to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters left the scene at around 7am before returning later in the morning to conduct a reinspection and to deliver community safety materials to neighbouring properties.
The cause of the fire is suspected to have been an electric fan heater.
No injuries were reported.
