A move has been agreed to relocate Shirley Warren Post Office next year.
Post Office has agreed to relocate to Thompsons in Warren Avenue, Southampton, where it will continue to be operated by the same postmaster.
The date of the move is now being finalised for next year.
The new premises, formerly Beeston’s funeral directors, is currently empty.
The postmaster will refurbish the premises into a convenience store and post office.
Opening hours will remain as: Monday-Friday from 8.30am-6pm, and Saturday from 9am-12.30pm.
There will be a serving point alongside the retail counter. The same products and services will be available.
Currently, there is a step at the entrance to the proposed premises, however, this step will be removed to provide level access for customers.
As part of the full refurbishment a new shop frontage will be installed with wide automatic doors.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Post Office said: “After careful consideration of consultation feedback, we are confident that the layout and location of the new branch will meet customer needs and deliver an excellent service, whilst securing the long-term viability of Post Office services in this area.”
