A Boots chemist in Woolston is set to close next year.
Located on 9 Victoria Road, the chemist will no longer provide ‘pharmaceutical services’ – with Superdrug – situated on the same road – the nearest alternative for consumers.
The closure on January 27 comes after Boots announced it would close 300 sites across the UK next year, with staff being redeployed to other stores.
A Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) supplementary statement published by Southampton Data Observatory – part of Southampton City Council – said the closure would not affect pharmacy services in the area.
The statement said: “Boots the chemist at 9 Victoria Road, Woolston, Southampton, will cease to provide pharmaceutical services from January 27, 2024.

“The next closest pharmacy is at Superdrug, 15-17 Victoria Road, approximately 23 meters from Boots.
“The Superdrug pharmacy is open half an hour earlier on weekdays when compared to Boots but other times and days are the same.”
The statement concluded: “The closure of Boots the chemist pharmacy service at 9 Victoria Road will not impact on pharmacy services in the area.”
