A Southampton man has been charged with causing the death of a woman in her 90s in a crash.
It comes after a Mercedes Sprinter van and a pedestrian collided in Wooland Gardens, Wyke Regis, at 12.49pm on Tuesday, May 2.
Emergency services attended and the pedestrian – a woman in her 90s from the area – was pronounced dead at the scene.
Edgaras Kondratas, 40, from Southampton, was arrested in connection with the incident.
Following detailed enquiries by the Serious Collision Investigation Team, he has now been charged with causing death by careless driving while over the specified limit for a controlled drug.
He is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
Police did not give details of the victim or of the alleged drug involved.
