A New Forest man died in a moped crash while travelling through Asia, an inquest has heard.
Benjamin Hugh Mosley was travelling in the Khamkeuth district of Laos on a moped when he was killed in a crash on November 11.
The 23-year-old insurance consultant who was living in Bransgore had been travelling in the Thabak Village area when he became involved in a crash with a lorry.
Speaking at an inquest opening held at Bournemouth town hall on Friday, December 8, coroner’s officer Matt Cave said: “Local police are continuing their investigation into the incident.”
He was formally identified by Dorset coroner's officer Nicola Muller using his passport.
A post-mortem examination of the body by Dr Adel Muhaisen concluded his cause of death was polytrauma and a road traffic accident.
Richard Middleton, assistant coroner for Dorset, said the inquest will continue with a pre-inquest review on April 11.
The British government has issued the following advice for driving in Laos: “Roads in Laos are in poor condition and vehicles are not maintained to UK standards.
“Travel after dark significantly increases the risk of an accident, as vehicles often do not have lights.
“Livestock including water buffalo also stray on to the roads causing accidents.”
