A member of one of the UK’s most successful bands made a special visit to Southampton at the weekend.
Take That’s Howard Donald made an appearance at the Engine Rooms on Saturday, December 16, swapping his microphone for some DJ decks.
Taking to the stage for 90 minutes, the lead singer of Never Forget had the Engine Rooms crowd jumping, dancing, and singing along to his house music, as he remixed popular songs such as It Only Gets Better, Wonderwall, and even Take That’s very own – Relight My Fire.
In association with Glitterati Promotions, Engine Rooms are prone to having special guests spin the decks with the likes of television personality Gok Wan having already played at the venue on West Quay Road this year, with Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp taking to the stage in February 2024.
Having opened its doors at 8pm on Saturday night, fans were treated to five hours of non-stop party anthems, with the encompassing sound and lighting systems showcasing the best of what Southampton’s nightlife has to offer.

The late-night Christmas party proved a big hit amongst the audience – many of whom were loyal Take That fans – fresh off the success of the band’s ninth UK number one album, This Life.
Long-time DJ, Jamie Ryves, took over the musical direction of the gig after Howard exited the stage, as he told the Echo: “It’s a great night and it’s brilliant to see so many people here.
“I’d like to say that Howard warmed up the crowd for me but in truth it was a pleasure to briefly share the stage with him and take over from him when he’d finished.
“Engine Rooms has always been a top venue and they have the best facilities in the business.
“It’s always great to come down here and put on a show.”
