A leisure centre has issued a statement after a customer suffered a cardiac arrest.
The incident at Holly Hill Leisure Centre happened this morning while the customer was using the gym.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and the individual was taken to hospital.
The leisure centre will remain closed for the remainder of the day but will reopen tomorrow with the exception of the pool.
Ryan Grant, Everyone Active contract manager, said: “Unfortunately, a customer suffered a cardiac arrest whilst using the gym facilities at Holly Hill Leisure Centre this morning.
“The emergency services were called, and the individual was taken to hospital.
“The leisure centre is closed for remainder of today and will reopen tomorrow.
“Please note that due to a shortage of staff, the pool will remain closed tomorrow.
“We wish the individual a speedy recovery and would like to thank our customers for their cooperation and support in this matter.”
Councillor Seán Woodward commended the staff at the centre, saying they "all performed very well".
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary confirmed they attended the incident, alongside South Central Ambulance Service.
