A derelict nightclub has remained untouched despite plans to transform it into flats.

The old Martine’s club in Regal Buildings in Eastleigh is set to become home to 18 flats and four commercial units.

Planning for the Market Street site was approved in September of last year by Eastleigh Borough Council.

But four months on, the eyesore site is yet to be transformed.

The ambitious project is being led by Kode Architecture, and director Rob Wiles said he is 'unsure’ on the status of the project.

He said: “It is a large project for its location with extensive building work and planning conditions and so will take some time to commence.

“I normally work on planning stage and rarely get involved with the build itself so am unable to update any further.”

In 2002 the club, which had been renamed Martine’s 2, was closed for a major makeover.

It reopened as Route 66 but shut again a few months after.

The vacant building is in a ‘very poor state’ and it is hoped the development will inject life in the area.
